So the test went great. Everyone from the Utah Chapter of Bushi Ban clan shined through like Master Pierce has said his students typically do.
The DAN test on Friday evening got off to a rocky start. Again Mr. Lance and Mr. Steve were not in the group of many that Grand Master Ahmed was getting on to about basics. Basics, basics, basics. Clean technique. The Bushi Ban system is like learning a new language. The cleaner, clearer and more eloquently you speak the language... the better off you will be in the eyes of the one who knows the language the best.
Saturday was great. The testing portion of the test lasted about 4 hours and by the time I was done my blue gi was navy blue and weighed about 10 pounds more then it did at the start. For those of you that have trained with me... you know why. I wore deodorant so I was wet... but still smelled like roses. ;-)
I enjoyed the demonstration and ceremony portion of the test as well. Tradition is important and neglected more often than not these days.
A big thanks to Instructor Deven Davenport. I happen to be one of his first Bushi Ban students that he has taught from white to black. That label is certainly an honor to be proud of and I am sure there will be many more great martial artists to reach their goals under the tutelage of Instructor Deven.
I am hoping that the link to this blog will be placed on the Bushi Ban Utah blogspot so it is easier to see and participate.
I encourage everyone to join in and get active with the blog.
